Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) has unveiled a new addition to its Capri-Sun portfolio to help retailers tap into the growing trend for cherry flavoured drinks[1].

Available from the middle of March, Capri-Sun Cherry contains no preservatives or artificial flavouring and is Soft Drink Tax-exempt. The new product will be sold in 330ml resealable pouches ideal for on-the-go consumption.

The Capri-Sun Cherry variant will also feature a new safety cap* that will be introduced across the 330ml Capri-Sun range in 2019 and will come in cardboard shelf-ready-packaging that displays key product messages to shoppers. It can also be easily stacked providing an ambient secondary display solution for retailers.

Cherry is currently the fastest-growing flavour in the soft drinks category and increased in value by £17m in 2018[2], presenting retailers with an opportunity to boost their sales with the biggest juice drink brand in Great Britain[3].

Simon Harrison, Vice President, Commercial Development at Coca-Cola European Partners GB, said: “Capri-Sun is worth over £73million [4] and has retained its No.1 juice brand status in GB[5] by broadening its popularity amongst adults, as well as younger consumers. In fact, adults account for three-quarters of 330ml Capri-Sun pack consumption[6]. The new cherry flavour is bang on trend and will add excitement to the juice drinks segment whilst broadening the appeal of the 330ml Capri-Sun range amongst consumers. We recommend that retailers get stocked up to take full advantage of the sales opportunity.”

The new flavour and wider 330ml Capri-Sun portfolio will be supported by a £1million consumer advertising campaign which includes bespoke social media content and outdoor advertising.
