Coca-Cola Enterprises puts the fizz into service training with new animated online training programme

Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd. (CCE) is launching a new online training programme to help licensees deliver the perfect soft drinks serve and drive their sales.

Soft drinks are worth £4.2 billion[1] in the licensed channel – more than the wine and cider categories - and CCE has developed the website,, to help licensees capitalise on the opportunity they present by training staff on how to improve their customers’ soft drinks experience.

The GB on trade’s number one soft drinks supplier has developed a new course, ‘Perfect Serve’ in partnership with e-learning specialists CPL Online, which pushes the boundaries of traditional online training methods, instead using animation to bring the message alive.

The course, which is available to all CCE customers, uses latest animation technology to deliver its content in an upbeat and engaging way. Fully interactive, the course allows participating licensees to enter their own CCE product range. It then directs the user straight to the relevant training pages for them, giving the individual a unique learning experience.

The ‘perfect serve’ training module focuses on four key elements

  1. Why focus on a perfect serve
  2. Brand format and preference
  3. How to deliver a perfect serve
  4. Putting training and knowledge into practice

The course contains useful information such as explaining the four part serve process – glass, ice, drink and garnish – which covers advice on best glassware and presentation, with modules for both the Coca-Cola and Appletiser brands.

In other aspects of the course advice is given on the best product range for your business, routine and cleaning processes, role playing customer interaction and tips on how to reduce wastage to save costs.

The e-learning course will be supported with printed collateral including back-of-house posters to reinforce perfect serve messaging.

A ‘second serve’ module will follow later on in the year giving pub and bar staff advice on how to encourage repeat purchases in outlets.

Wes McKenna, Sales Director – Cold, at CCE, said: “Soft drinks represent a huge opportunity for licensees and perform only behind beer and spirits in the on-trade in terms of wet sales. However, they are often not given the same focus by bar staff that other drinks categories are.  By helping to ensure that their customers get the perfect soft drinks serve every time, pub and bar owners will increase the chances of repeat custom.

“We are committed to giving our customers the tools they need to help drive their sales. We recommend our customers speak to their CCE account manager or field sales representative to find out more, who will be able to demonstrate the benefits of completing the new online training.”
