Sites and Offices

• Morpeth has one manufacturing line.

• We employ 39 people.

• This site is the only source of Abbey Well water and GLACÉAU smartwater, and the only Coca-Cola water site in Great Britain.

• Every drop of our Natural Mineral Water has been naturally filtered through water bearing white sandstone for at least 3,000 years.

• Schweppes Abbey Well was the official water of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

• Built in 1981, the site became part of CCE in November 2008.

• We produce 2 million cases of drinks every year.

• The site is capable of producing still and sparkling water in PET* bottles.

Reducing our impact on the environment

One of our key sustainability priorities is to minimalise the water use of our operations. The amount of water used for every litre of final product produced is known as the 'water use ratio'.

When we took over the operation of Morpeth in 2008, the water use ratio was approximately 2.0: two litres of water used for every one litre of product produced. By 2010 we had reduced this ratio to 1.72. We are now targeting a future water use ratio of below 1.4. Some of the ways we have reduced our water usage is by optimising cleaning procedures and the cycle time and pressure of the PET rinsers.
