Coca-Cola Enterprises scoops prestigious award for commitment to recycling and sustainability

Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) has been awarded a top accolade at the Edie Awards for Environmental Excellence 2011 for outstanding commitment to reducing waste in packaging and changing consumer behaviour when recycling.
The Edie Waste & Resource Management Award was presented to CCE during a ceremony at the Hurlingham Club on Wednesday 3rd November 2011.
CCE is working hard to deliver against stretching sustainability goals; CCE has reduced packaging weight by 30% over the last five years, is committed to using 25% recycled content in all bottles by 2012 and, in 2011, launched the most eco-friendly bottle ever with PlantBottle. Across Great Britain, CCE recycles 99.9% of its manufacturing waste and five of its six manufacturing sites have achieved zero wasted to landfill.
In particular, the award celebrates CCE's focus on improving recycling in GB through consumer engagement and investing in GB's recycling infrastructure. For example, CCE's Swap for Swag initiative engaged over 19,000 festival goers in recycling 149,764 PET (plastic) bottles at music and culture events this summer. Furthermore, CCE has invested in a new recycling facility1 that will more than double the amount of high quality rPET recycled in GB, ensuring that the plastic consumers recycle is re-processed and re-used in GB for maximum carbon efficiency.
