Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd launches recycling roadshows with Sainsbury’s
Monday, October 10, 2011
Coca‑Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) today announces a partnership with Sainsbury's to host 'Recycling Roadshows' in the car parks of twenty of Sainsbury's stores nationwide during September and October this year.
The Recycling Roadshow will visit one Sainsbury's store every day until mid-October and will help inspire shoppers about the importance of recycling plastic and aluminium packaging. The roadshow will be hosted by recycling champions who will offer information about recycling in a fun and engaging way. If shoppers purchase a large bottle of Coca-Cola in-store they can present their receipt at the roadshow to collect a free PET recycling box, to encourage them to recycle at home.
In addition to the Recycling Roadshow, there will also be free-standing display units for 500ml Coca-Cola nationwide across 367 Sainsbury's supermarkets and 180 petrol forecourts, showcasing Coca-Cola's new PlantBottle packaging - PET plastic bottles made partially from plants. There will also be a front of store pallet display for 8-pack Coca-Cola with a pallet shroud that communicates a '100% Recyclable' message. Finally, all My Coke (Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and diet Coke) products on the Sainsbury's website will also carry the '100% Recyclable' message alongside them, ensuring the importance of recycling at home is emphasised across the total shopper experience.
This joint activity follows CCE's attendance at Sainsbury's Super Saturday last month, a celebratory event marking 'one year to go' until London Paralympics 2012. CCE used its innovative recycling solution, Swap for Swag, to encourage the 12,000 attendees to recycle their empty plastic bottles in exchange for eco‑friendly festival essentials.
Patrick McGuirk, Recycling Director at Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd, comments:
"CCE wants to transform recycling in Great Britain. Our Recycling Roadshow partnership with Sainsbury's is a great way to inspire shoppers and help to change their behaviour in relation to recycling. Our goal is to convince them that every action they take makes a difference. By offering them a free recycling box when they buy a Coca-Cola, we aim to make it easier for them to recycle more at home."
Jack Cunningham, Climate Change & Environment Manager at Sainsbury's, said:
"Our top twenty stores see a huge number of shoppers every day, which guarantees thousands of people have the chance to interact with the CCE Recycling Roadshow. It has been developed to be informative, while adding value to customers' overall shopping experience. We hope that the free recycling box will encourage more of our customers to recycle every day."
