Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd (CCE) has been awarded a top accolade at the 2011 European Supply Chain Excellence Awards, receiving the prize in the Logistics Strategy category.
The award was presented to CCE during a ceremony at the Hilton, Park Lane on Tuesday 1st November 2011, for its industry leading work to centralise the multi-drop planning operation in CCE GB. Multi drop is an efficient way of delivering to customers that don't require full loads, enabling vehicles to make several drops to various customers per journey.
Over 75% of CCE's Wholesale and Out of Home volume is delivered through the Multi Drop Transport channel and in 2009 CCE's supply chain undertook a network redesign to meet and exceed customer needs, while maintaining costs and driving service.
CCE were also awarded Highly Commendable status in the Customer Service Support category for their work in delivering top class service metrics for key customers and industry leading supply chain projects.
Wendy Manning, Customer Logistics Director at Coca-Cola Enterprises, said: "The strong performance of our supply chain is absolutely fundamental to the success of the business. We are always striving to maintain the exceptional standards that we set ourselves, as well as adapting to meet new challenges and develop new innovations.
"We are extremely ambitious in our pursuit of best practice in every aspect of the supply chain, whilst always adhering to our company ethos of growing more, while using less. We are delighted to have received this award in recognition for all our efforts in this area."
The European Supply Chain Excellence Awards aims to reward organisations that demonstrate excellence in their supply chain operations. The awards are renowned for having a particularly stringent judging process, which demands that entrants provide a detailed demonstration of the improvements made within the business and the key benefits resulting from these changes.
