Powerade Sign Sponsorship Deal with Jessica Ennis - Sports Drink To Help Power World Champion to 2012

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Powerade has announced the exciting signing of World Champion Jessica Ennis as a brand ambassador as she set to compete in the Powerade Great CityGames in Manchester last weekend.

Powerade's latest ambassador, Jessica Ennis, is regarded as one of the world's top athletes having recently won gold at the IAAF World Championships and IAAF Indoor World Championships. The deal, which runs until the end of 2012, will see Jessica work closely with Powerade and their experts in hydration and nutrition to help her perform to her maximum both in training and competition.

Jessica Ennis commented; "I'm really excited to be a part of the Powerade team. It's great to hear some of the ideas and the direction they are taking Powerade and I can't wait to see and taste what the future brings."

She continued: "It's going to be a busy two years for me, but obviously the main focus is going to be London 2012, so I'm just really focusing on getting ready and performing and improving year upon year and Powerade will play a big factor in that. During a session I don't like to drink a big litre bottle of water. I like to get some liquid into me but also some carbohydrate, so Powerade is a nice amount of liquid that I can sip at during the session and it makes a big difference."

Jessica will act as an ambassador for Powerade and will be making appearances for the Isotonic Sports Drink to help promote the benefits of hydration, as well as appearing in above-the-line marketing activity and brand endorsements. In return Powerade will be supporting Jessica and her coach with nutritional expertise to help her reach her potential on the track

A Coca-Cola GB representative commented "We are delighted to announce this new partnership with Jessica. She has proven her pedigree on the international stage as a World Champion and at only 24 years of age her future is very exciting. We look forward working with her and helping her to reach her potential as the greatest tournament in world sport comes to London."

Powerade is specially formulated to ensure peak performance is maintained through hydration. Powerade has been scientifically designed to offset the impact of dehydration by replacing fluids and body salts lost during exercise.

As the official sports drink of The FIFA World Cup, London2012, Team GB, the RFU and The Football League, Powerade works closely with elite coaches and scientists to ensure athletes remain hydrated and energised both in training and in competition.
